We are a family owned and operated chimney cleaning business situated in North Canterbury but servicing Christchurch and surrounding areas from Akaroa to Rakaia and Castle Hill to Amberley. We guarantee our work and leave you a card confirming this to file with your insurance paper work.

In 2023, we added gutter cleaning to our services, available from September to December.

Chimney Cleaning

Regular chimney cleaning removes creosote and soot build-up ensuring your fire burns efficiently and is safe to use. The New Zealand Fire Service recommends annual cleaning and this may be a requirement of your insurance company

Parts Replacement & Repairs

We can undertake firebox and flue repairs and fit new bricks, baffles and airtubes.

We can also bird-proof your cowl to keep the birds out!

Gutter Cleaning

Available September - December.

Just as chimneys need regular cleaning to function at their best, so do gutters and spouting. They serve the essential purpose of channeling rainwater away from your property, ensuring the home remains structurally sound and dry. However, over time, these gutters can become clogged with debris, leading to several potential issues.

Chimney Cleaning FAQs

How often should I have my chimney cleaned?

The New Zealand Fire Service recommends having your fire swept and inspected annually. Your insurance company may also require yearly cleaning. Some fires may need additional cleans as what you burn and how you run your fire can make a difference.

How much does it cost?

Open fire - $109

Log burner - $99.

Coal range - from $120

Please add $10 if you live in outer areas such as Akaroa, Methven, Castle Hill etc.

How long does a chimney clean take?

A straight forward clean and inspection takes around 30-40 minutes. If you have a blockage or birds nest that can't be cleared as part of a standard clean, the extra time required may be subject to an extra charge, depending on the difficulty of removal.m et deserunt, recusandae.

Do you get on the roof to clean the chimney?

Most chimneys are able to be cleaned from the inside up but sometimes it is necessary to clean from the top down and to make sure the cowl is clean and clear. We have ladders on board to access the roof.

Do you supply new bricks, baffles and airtubes?

There are far too many different makes and models for us to carry these parts. If your fire needs new bricks, baffles or airtubes, please purchase them from your supplier and we will fit them for you at the time of cleaning. There is no extra charge.

We do carry door and glass rope for most models so we can replace yours if required.

Can you bird proof the cowl / hat?

Yes, we can bird proof the cowl / hat for you to keep birds from nesting in the flue. The cost is $35 - $65 depending on the type of cowl you have.

Do you do firebox and flue repairs?

Yes, we can do repairs. Depending on the complexity, many repairs are done at no extra charge

Can I light the fire the night before my booking?

Yes, it's fine to have the fire going the night before, but please remember not to light it on the morning of cleaning or the flue will be too hot to be serviced. We will need to reschedule your booking and you may be subject to a call out fee.

How do I pay?

We will email you an invoice on the night of service which can be paid via internet banking or credit card (please note there is a fee added for credit card payments.) We also accept cash at the time of service. We do not accept cheques.

Whats included in your gutter cleaning service?

Our service includes cleaning debris from gutters and downspouts, ensuring proper flow and cleaning up any mess created during the service.

How much does it cost?

A quote is required for every job, but to give you some idea of what to expect as far as pricing goes, a standard size single story 3 bedroom home with good access to the gutters is around $145 - $165 (inc. GST). However, every home and building is unique and so are its maintenance needs. When it comes to gutter cleaning, various factors influence the pricing:

Access and height: Some properties have easy-to-reach gutters while others, especially multi-story buildings, require specialized equipment or additional safety measures.

Extend of cleaning required: A lightly filled gutter will naturally be quicker to clean than one that's heavily clogged with years of debris.

Size and length of gutters: Larger properties or those with intricate gutter systems might take longer to service.Special requests: Custom requests or additional services can also play a role in the final quote.

How do I get a quote?

Click on our virtual assistant who will ask you a few questions. We use Google Maps and Google Earth alongside the information you give us to supply you with an estimated cost. We'll then email you our quote, which is valid for 30 days.
